Fight The Waste Campaign
As part of my university coursework, I worked with National Highways to create a campaign that combated littering in my local area. My university town was Ormskirk and, after conducting my own research through interviewing local women involved with litter-picking, I found that teenagers were a group worth targeting my efforts towards.
Initial Ideas
I presented my initial ideas to Jim Wildman, a National Highways employee involved in some of their previous ad campaigns. He responded positively to my ideas and especially liked my proposal for a mobile app that turns helping the environment into a game. My first campaign was titled 'What a Waste' which I later changed to 'Fight the Waste' to reflect the format of my final product.
The key ideas were:
-
Putting labels on public waste bins to encourage teens to use them
-
Putting biodegradable stickers on lamp posts to prevent littering
-
Building a videogame to gameify being kind to the environment for teens
Final Campaign
My final ad campaign involved 3 multi-media elements that promoted a video game about stopping littering for teenage boys. The three Instagram posts and bin-poster were created using Adobe Photoshop and the website was made using Wix.
